200 meals served for Christmas 2021, 900 fed dinner for Thanksgiving 2021, Charity Cook-a-thon 2020

Third Charity Cook-a-thon, Dec 2020

On December 21st, 2020 a handful of Knights from St. Agnes Council (#4449) achieved great results and had a good bit of fun and another “Charity cook-a-thon”, or a “Turn-Around Event”, as this GK likes to call them.  This was the third such event this year and all three are the brainchild of PGK Larry Michielli who received our first Knight of the Month Award (December 2020) for conceiving of and executing on this idea.  Larry can be seen in the first pic below in full command of the kitchen.

A “Turn-around event” is a new event born out of necessity and charity in this covid-hampered year.  It’s where our council takes what traditionally is a fund-raising dinner event of some sort (e.g. St. Patrick’s Day, Octoberfest, Christmas) and then ‘turns it around’ into an event where instead of making food for our members and guests, we make it for charity.

This year’s beneficiaries, in no particular order, were: My Brother’s Keeper, Little Sisters of the Poor, The Oblate Sisters of Providence and My Sister’s Place.  The following pictures with captions were taken during the preparation of food.

Thank you, Knights.  You’ve made this Grand Knight proud.

Sincerely, Christopher Vandewinckel – GK, St. Agnes Council.
